Members

Five musicians made up The Band, and all five sang, wrote, or swapped instruments enough that no single member ever functioned as a simple frontman. Robbie Robertson wrote most of the songs and played guitar; Levon Helm, Rick Danko, and Richard Manuel traded lead vocals depending on the song; Garth Hudson built the arrangements underneath all of it on organ, piano, and saxophone.
